An empty stock Class 127 unit was struck on a crossover by another Class 127 unit which had passed two red signals. The latter was deflected towards the Down fast line where it was struck a glancing blow by an express passenger train hauled by a Class 45 locomotive. Minor injuries. More Details.

A class 127 DMU, led by M51645, departs Bedford with a passenger service to London St Pancras. Taken sometime in the week 4th-8th July 1983. John Crooks.

Class 127 DMU at Upper Holloway

15th August 1983

Displaced from the London Division of the Midland Main Line by Class 317 EMUs upon completion of the BedPan electrification in 1982 (Although to be fair an ASLEF dispute over OMO delayed their demise for a while longer ... ) some Class 127 DMUs were reduced to a 3 car formation and used on the newly introduced Gospel Oak to Barking service. Here, with M51645 leading, the 1015 Gospel Oak to Barking service slows for the station stop at Upper Holloway as it passes the signal box on 15th August 1983. Nigel Mack.
