The Class 127 Farewell railtour on 12th March 1983 took a unit from St Pancras to Bedford then across to Oxford, and back to Marylebone via a break at Quainton Road where a stop was made for some running repairs to a damaged air pipe with assistance from the museum workshop staff. This is the Branch Line Society (BLS) Class 127 Farewell Railtour from London St Pancras which visited Bedford, Oxford and Marylebone. Formation was 51618/59645/59615/51592 (from the Six Bells Junction website). This has a lunch stop at Quainton Road from where departure was delayed while some emergency welding was carried out. Derby Works built the units, which entered service in 1959. They had hydraulic transmission with Rolls Royce engines. This location is Stewartby, on the Bedford to Bletchley line. Jeremy Chapter.

Newly painted class 116 set TS624 (presumably 51143 + 59615 + 51130) approaching Small Heath with a Birmingham Moor Street to Stratford-upon-Avon train on 22 March 1986. I never felt entirely comfortable in this location if no other photographers were present as there was a bit of a dodgy pub immediately to the left of the road bridge but on this occasion there wasn't an issue because 2 steam-hauled workings were working away from Birmingham...
