1.  Manchester Part 1 Scheme (Certain services not yet in operation)  (cont'd)

Revised submission is now awaited from Eastern Region and when received to be dealt with in conjunction with L.M. Operating portion of the scheme for which report is still awaited.

2.  Harrow - Belmont Scheme

One 3-car unit to be delivered in June, 1957.

3.  Derby, Nottingham, Leicester Part 1

Noted that this scheme has been approved by the Area Board and has now been submitted to the B.T.C. for approval.  B.T.C. have requested a forecast of the economics of the proposed services and Accountant has been asked for this information.  Mr.Nicholls reported that the investigation is progressing and Messrs.Gould and Dow will co-operate as necessary.

501   SCHEMES UNDER CONSIDERATION BY COMMITTEE BUT NOT YET SUBMITTED TO B.T.C.

1.  Economies of future schemes

Noted that arising out of the Derby, Nottingham, Leicester Part 1 scheme, the B.T.C. have requested that when submissions for proposed future schemes are made, these should include a forecast of the economics of each scheme.

2.  Wrexham, Chester, Bidston and Seacombe

Mr.Gould stated that certain progress has been made with the final report but difficulty is being experienced in regard to Birkenhead Park during the peak period.  It was considered it is not possible to amalgamate the two stations at Wrexham.

3.  Liverpool Central - Gateacre and Warrington (C)  )

4.  Liverpool Lime Street - St.Helens and Wigan      )

The Chairman outlined the results of his discussion with Messrs.Gould, Dow and Nicholls regarding these two schemes and the schemes will now be re-submitted on the lines agreed.

Regarding the Lime Street - St.Helens - Wigan proposal, C.M.E. has stated that 400 H.P. will be necessary on a 2-car set.  Messrs.Gould, Stanley and Finlayson will jointly consider the question of H.P. requirements, bearing in mind the possible alternatives of two vehicles each fitted with one 238 H.P. Rolls Royce engines or with one motor car with two 200 H.P. B.U.T. engines and a trailer.
