A 3-car class 115 sporting its new NSE livery makes a typically smoky exit from Marylebone on 28 June 1986. It is attached to M51658 still in Blue/Grey and displaying a Chiltern Line logo. Robert28194.

115 DMU

The 11.38 Marylebone – Banbury arrives at High Wycombe while on the left, class 121 bubble car M55033, having arrived from Thame with one of the day’s Thame Phoenix shuttles, waits to cross to the down side to form the 12.50 departure to Thame. 55033 had its original cab replaced at one end by an example from a class 116 following accident damage, which is why in this view, it resembles a class 122. However the giveaway is the exhaust pipes which were retained: they flare at the top where the headcode box would have been. Robert28194.

122 DMU

Class 121 no 55033 and class 122 no 55006 (nearer the camera) are seen at High Wycombe on 28 June 1986, where they would go on to form the Thame Phoenix shuttles to Thame operated by Hertfordshire Railtours. Robert28194.

120 DMU

Distant Past. An interesting array of DMUs in Ayr Kyle Street Sidings. From the left it looks like a Class 126 TSL, Class 120 Cross Country Power Car, Class 116 Derby Suburban, Class 126 TSL, Class 126 Leading and Class 126 Intermediate to the right on the short road. The Swindon Cross Country is one of a number that spent a short spell at Ayr after the Aberdeen to Inverness services went over to Type 2 haulage. They eventually went south. The Class 120 is probably a DMC (three leading saloon windows) and Railcar suggests this could be Sc51787. Enlargement from half frame 35 mm negative - not great quality, but not great weather either! Uncollated negative but possibly April 1980. alicia hartman.

126 DMU

SPS Railtour. Intermediate Driving Cars Sc51026 (126 413) nearest and Sc51017 (126 406) coupled cab to cab on Platform 1 after a shunt from Platform 3. The Ayrshire Wanderer shunt took place during the lunchbreak at Largs. Derby 107 434 awaits departure with a service for Glasgow Central from Platform 2. Saturday 09 October 1982. alicia hartman.

Bathgate No More. Not quite as Metro Cammell 101 365 (53239 + 59053 + 53245) has brought invited guests into town as part of a publicity event for the forthcoming reopening of the Edinburgh - Bathgate line. Looking east as the Set stands in the goods yard used for motor car distribution traffic. The lifted Airdrie - Bathgate line is behind the track panels stacked to the far right. Saturday 23 March 1985. alicia hartman.
