101324 stands at Stirling formed DMS 53245 (nearest) with TBS 59112 and DMBS 51253 (curiously containing two brake vans!) on 29/Mar/1986. I could not find any record of 53245 listed in 101324 in contemporary set lists although 51253 was, so maintenance requirements or failures might have caused reformations, which might also account for the two brake vans in the set. Another three car set listed had no brake van at all so both may have been temporary formations. Robert Chilton.

A westbound class 101 on an empty stock working is seen at Peffermill on the Edinburgh "Sub" around 15.30 on 16/9/89. The unit is probably 101 324, formed of 51253, 59304 and 53746. At this time the south tunnel at Haymarket was closed for electrification works and trains were being diverted over the "Sub" (formally The Edinburgh Suburban and South Side Junction Railway!). On a rainy Summer day, Class 101 three-car DMU 101325 with Driving Motor Brake Second SC51448 at the rear, had arrived at the terminus at North Berwick with a service from Edinburgh Waverley on July 22nd 1981. Although having been rationalised to a single platform, the station still retained its British Railways 1950's Scottish Region light blue enamel signage. The North Berwick branch was eventually electrified in 1991. Martyn Hilbert.
