Class 101 DMU at Ruswarp

23rd July 1958

Two three-car Met-Camm sets form the 4.5pm Whitby (Town) - Middlesbrough service seen west of Ruswarp, near the River Esk, on July 23, 1958. The front set, led by motor composite E50186, appears to have two vehicles with brake vans. Michael Mensing.

Class 101 DMU at Haymarket depot

circa 1984

Set number: 101314

Met-Camm set 101314 on Haymarket depot circa 1984. Closest is probably 53186. S Saunders.

Class 101 DMU at Lindores

8th February 1986

Set number: 101305

2K51, the 09:38 Kirkcaldy to Perth local formed of 101 305 approaches Lindores Loch in Fife on a snowy 8th February 1986. Bruce Galloway.

Class 101 DMU at Edinburgh Waverley

circa late 1986

Set number: 101303

Met-Camm set 101303 seen in Edinburgh Waverley. Date unknown, this is probably 53186 taken in late 1986. Andrew McConnell.

Class 101 DMU at Mucklets Road, Musselburgh

28th July 1987

Set number: 101362

Set 101 362 (53186/59073/53187), forming the 12.17 Edinburgh - North Berwick, passes the site of the future Musselburgh station at Mucklets Road bridge on 28/7/87. Leonard Rogers.

The vehicle is mentioned in the following images:

DMU

Date: circa July 1970

There were no details with this negative other than being Huntly station. It's taken out of a Swindon Cross set, of which the power car nearer the rear is still in green livery. Attached to the back is a Met-Camm TBSL set, the far power car in blue, the closest seems to be green, the centre car is hard to tell. Inverness only had one TBSL Met-Camm, 50186 + 59080 + 50187 on loan from Hamilton between June and September 1970. Note the two BRUTES and at least four trolleys lined up on the left platform, a sign that a lot of mail/parcels was carried - the reason for the Class 120 DMBF conversions. Stuart Mackay Collection.

DMU

Date: March 1974

A Class 101 unit departs from Glasgow Central (possibly to Lanark) alongside Class 303 unit no 042 on a Cathcart Circle service in March 1974. The leading DMC is probably 50186 or 50187 and the centre car is probably 59080. John McIntyre.

DMU

Date: August 1987

Set number: 101362

Class 101 DMU set 101 362 (53187 and presumably 59073 + 53186) entering Kinghorn station in August 1987. Alistair Ness.

DMU

Date: August 1987

Set number: 101362

Kinghorn Met Camm. The livery has changed, but Class 101 DMUs had plied the Edinburgh to Dundee route for the best part of 30 years before this shot was taken at Kinghorn in August 1987. 101362 (53187 and presumably 59073 + 53186) is about to pass through the station with an Edinburgh to Dundee semi fast, next stop Kirkcaldy. Murray Liston.

DMU

Date: 1988

Set number: 101362

101362 (led by 53187, presumably with 59073 + 53186) departs from Edinburgh Waverley in 1988. S Saunders.
