In this undated picture Alvechurch station presents a lovely summer rural aspect. The Station Master is in full uniform and has a smile for the alighting passengers, the old station nameboard is in good condition as are the buildings. Patiently waiting for departure time for Birmingham is a Gloucester RC&W class 100, the driver's approach to the uniform is less formal the the station master.
Alvechurch is still open and thriving being part of the Cross City line to Redditch, it is now electrified, but the crossing to the fields and footpath (in front of the train) is still very much used by walkers.
The streak in the sky is a bird, it was there, it stays. Geoff Dowling and John Whitehouse Collection.
