timetables will be ready by the end of January 1957. It was noted the General
Manager requires an early report on this scheme.

482. SCHEMES ALREADY IN OPERATION
1. Financial results
(a) Financial results of the West Cumberland scheme which has been in
operation for 12 months have been reported to the Area Board. None of the
other services has yet been in operation for a year, and the General Manager has
suggested to the Area Board that an overall assessment of the results in each
area should be taken out on an annual basis.
2. West Cumberland Scheme
(a) Traffic receipts to 30.10.56 shown on Appendix
'A' attached.
(b) Proposed pruning during the winter. Mr.Read reported that this
matter is still in hand with the bus Company.
3. Watford - St.Albans Scheme
(a) Traffic receipts to 30.10.56 shown on Appendix
'A' attached.
(b) Condition of permanent way. Mr. Butland reported that the
question of long welding of rails was in hand but was linked with research on
types of welded joints.
(c) Broken springs of units. Noted that Mr.Randle is arranging for
a spare set of springs to be stocked for future eventualities.
