Vehicles E54458 E51298 are seen entering what was then platform 8 of York station with the 16:42 York - Doncaster via Selby, 25/07/1986. Graeme Phillips Collection.
Experimental DMU no. EXP DM 352, consisting of cars 78601 (nearest, formerly 50521) and 78851 (formerly 50446) both of which had had one of their two 150hp engines removed as a proposed cost saving measure, seen at Stalybridge in May 1984. It is said that the unit was underpowered - although it should have had the same power as a 'conventional' Class 101-109 power-trailer or 4-car unit - and the only other cars to have this modification carried out subsequently were the Metropolitan-Cammell Class 111s, which had 180hp Rolls-Royce engines. This unit was one of the few Class 104s to receive blue & grey livery, plus the black strip below the cab windows was presumably to mark it out as non-standard. Graeme Phillips Collection.
Class 108 DMBS M53938 leads a Class 101 DTS(L), presumably 54411, on 21/09/1984 about half a mile south-east of Mostyn. The large ship in the background is the Duke of Lancaster, abandoned there in 1979. Graeme Phillips Collection.

Built by Birmingham RC&W Co, the Rolls-Royce engined Class 110s were a common sight in the bay platforms at York through the 1970s and 1980s. On Saturday 26/07/1986, this formation has recently arrived from Leeds via Harrogate. Graeme Phillips Collection.
53959 + 54243 arrive at Newcastle on 22/06/1988 with a service from the Tyne Valley. This was one of the majority of Class 108s transferred from Kingmoor (KD) depot, Carlisle, to Heaton (HT) depot, Newcastle, in May 1988, upon closure of the former. They were still intended for work in Cumbria, but, being based in the north-east, made frequent appearances in the region, especially certain generously timed Carlisle-Newcastle services, presumably to allow them to come to their home depot for maintenance. They finished working in Cumbria in November 1991, replaced by then newly converted Class 153 single car Sprinters. Graeme Phillips Collection.
A 6-car Class 126 Swindon Inter-City set. The folks at Scot-Rail.co.uk and 'Mad Mac' identified the location as being between Troon and Barassie, the train heading towards Glasgow. The building in the background is the old Barassie Works. Date unknown. Stuart Rankin.
Park Royal railbus M79971 in Falkirk Grahamston station, circa January 1968, presumably on a service to or from Grangemouth. Stuart Rankin.
A Class 107 set arriving at Hairmyres station. It carries a small stenciled set number - possibly 216. Undated. Stuart Rankin.
A Gloucester twin arrives into Oakley station, a now long-closed station on the Alloa - Dunfermline line. Stuart Rankin.
A Branch Line Society tour to Mallaig waits at Ardlui on the outbound direction, probably waiting on a southbound service to pass. 1st September 1968. Stuart Rankin.
