One day in 1988, a Lancaster-Barrow dmu failed and was hauled by 31141. This image shows the Barrow bound train waiting to leave Grange over Sands and shows the leading coach to be class 104 DMSL M53501 which was based at Newton Heath from May 1987 until withdrawal in March 1989. 31141 was a Bescot engine from November 1987 until November 1988 when it moved to Crewe, then withdrawn in January 1989.
