A class 101 three-car DMU heads north past Sinclairtown in what was then a heavily-industrialised area of Kirkcaldy, Fife, on an Edinburgh-Dundee service on 6th July, 1979. Class 101 DMBS SC51453 on Eastfield depot on 22 July 1979. This had been the first Scottish DMBS to have been refurbished, released from Glasgow Works in July 1976 in the white/blue stripe livery. Three years later it now in blue/grey although its partners are in the white/blue stripe livery. Noted the taped over set number (185). Brian Daniels.

Refurbished Class 101 Metro-Cammel unit B805 (50329-59122-50304) forming a Cheltenham-Swindon service leaving Gloucester on Tuesday 31st July 1979. It is plainly evident here why the white and blue band livery for refurbished DMUs was a short-lived concept and application, it proving impossible to maintain them in a presentable condition. This particular unit, presumably one of the earlier ones to be so painted, was noted during the following April wearing the BR standard blue and grey livery. Gordon Edgar.
