Maintenance and fuelling facilities at Ryecroft motive power depot proceeding satisfactorily and would be sufficiently advanced for commencement of augmented service on November 17th, 1958.

625.  SCHEMES UNDER CONSIDERATION BY COMMITTEE BUT NOT YET SUBMITTED TO B.T.C.

(1)  Marylebone Suburban Services

(a) Submission of scheme - Noted that the Chairman of the B.T.C. and the Chairman of the L.M.Area Board are taking an interest in this scheme and have been told that the full scheme would be submitted to the Commission early in 1959.

(b) Production of vehicles - Scheduled to commence in January, 1960, following vehicles for St.Pancras scheme.

(c) Power Equipment - Noted that Rolls Royce and B.U.T. have confirmed that the prices they quoted for St.Pancras would also apply for Marylebone vehicles as follows :-

(1) One motor car set of Rolls Royce 238 H.P. engines and torque converters etc. £9,650

(2)  One motor car set of B.U.T. 230 H.P. engines and gearbox drive etc. £8,085

and it has been suggested to the Chief Mechanical Engineer that up-to-date quotation be obtained from B.U.T. covering the incorporation of improved engine cooling system arrangements before the purchase was finally agreed.

(d) Seating Arrangements - The General Manager had commented on the figure of 8% in favour of first class accomodation and had remarked that there is an important goodwill elsewhere in the 8%.

Mr.Dow quoted the following figures of present replies to the questionnaire and said that a further meeting was to be held with the Western Region when the result of a census taken in October and also timetable arrangemens would be discussed.
