On 24 August 1980, The Branch Line Society "Forfar Railtour" ran from Perth to Forfar using this three-car class 101 dmu set, believed to be 50264 + 59549 + 51241. Jeremy Chapter.
A six-car formation of two Class 101s and a Class 105 is seen on the Alexandra Docks branch during the Humberside Loco Preservation Group "City of Hull" tour on 23 September 1978. The docks authorities had insisted on steps being used to exit the train, even in those days. E50166 is closest. Jeremy Chapter.
Class 120 car W51584 is seen at Gunnislake on 30 September 1978, coupled with W51575. 51584 was new in 1961 at Tyseley, Birmingham and withdrawn in March 1987 by which time it had moved to Ayr in Scotland. Jeremy Chapter.

A Class 105 Cravens 2-car diesel unit is seen departing Manningtree bound for Harwich on 24 March 1984. The set number appears to be 48 so the carriages may have been E54470 (leading) and E51291 which were new in 1959 and 1958 respectively. Both of these would be withdrawn a few months after the photo was taken. New signals have been put in place on a tall gantry, in readiness for electrification of the line which was more obviously under way a couple of miles towards London. Jeremy Chapter.
Pressed Steel class 117 diesel set B433 (presumably 51413 + 59509 + 51371) is seen at Weymouth Quay on 24 June 1984. It formed part of a 6-car set bound, I imagine, for Bristol. The London boat train is formed of an "Oxted" Mark 1 8-set. WR dmus appear to have worked on the tramway in 1983 and 1984. Taken from the "Earl William" as she approaches the Dorset port from Jersey. The Hertfordshire Railtours "Valleybasher" tour on 3 May 1980 was mainly loco-hauled, but for the trip to Newport Docks a six-car BRCW class 118 suburban unit was used (W51329 closest).
