The Edinburgh City Transport Welfare Association "The Forth Valley Wanderer" railtour is seen at Granton on 12th July 1980, taken on my Instamatic from the entrance to the oil terminal, looking towards the headshunt on the former Caledonian line to Princes St. The tour was formed of two blue and grey liveried Cravens class 105 DMUs 51474 and 51480, sandwiching a Met Camm centre car 59047. The strange sight of a row of BRCW DMU centre cars beside the wheel lathe at the Portobello end of Craigentinny depot in October 1987. These were originally formed into the "Calder Valley" class 110 sets and had been put into store earlier that year. The cars include E59817 partially seen on the left. Murray Liston.

An unconventional sight in Waverley platform 17 in July 1988 is Derby Lightweight class 108 53631 which spent its first 30 years on the North Eastern region, initially as part of a 4 car set. Drafted in to Scotland in 1987 it is seen here on one end of set 386, a hybrid formed of a BRCW class 110 centre car and a later class 108 51926. When ScR had enough of them, the 108s were tidied up and ran as a pair on the Central Wales line based at Landore while the centre car was withdrawn from Haymarket. On the right is the more common sight of a Met Camm triple 101307 (51231 + 59688 + 53189). Murray Liston.
