Built as a buffet car - Met Camm centre car SC59577 is seen at Dundee on 1 September 1979 between a Class 101 DMBS and what is thought to be Class 122 SC55000. Note the Newcastle set number, which seems to read N403, to the right of the first door on the lower bodyside of the buffet. Brian Daniels.

One of the two vans in Barnsley's parcels siding will be attached to the early evening Sheffield service formed of this Class 111 DMU, which is approaching carefully to collect its load in this image from September 1979. After retrieving the van from the siding, the DMU will need to run round before departure. The parcels sidings were at the north end of Barnsley station, adjacent to the Leeds platform. In this view I am looking from the front of the station towards Exchange Junction, so Eldon Street North would be to my left. The DMU is obscuring the signalbox. Andrew Walker.

TSLRB Sc59574 is pictured on Dundee MPD on April 13th 1980. The seats are covered in Trojan moquette. The vehicle had recently been transferred from Inverness, the text on the lower bodyside corners reads "Gangway Adapter Fitted Uncouple With Care", these has been required for working in the Class 120s there which had Pullman gangways. emdjt42.

The Class 111 DMU formed of E50135 + E56092 has reversed prepatory to forming the 16.00 to Bradford (Forster Square) at Keighley on 14 June 1980. The orange cantrail level stripe across the cab front was unusual in this livery. Tom Burnham.

With the Rowntree-Macintosh chocolate factory alongside, a Metro-Cammell Class 101 three-car DMU formed of cars E50283, E59571 & E50278 was stood at Halifax with the daily Leeds to Blackpool North service on August 9th 1980. During this period, this out-and-back Monday-Saturday working was the only regular timetabled passenger train to use the Copy Pit route between Hall Royd Junction at Todmorden and Gannow Junction at Burnley. A three-car Metro-Cammell Class 111 diesel set coupled to a Class 108 twin are seen at Kelloe Bank Foot in County Durham on 27 September 1980 during the RCTS "North Eastern No 5" rail tour. For the three-car the centre car is noted on Six Bells Junction as Class 101 59529, the power cars are likely 51554 + 51546. Jeremy Chapter.
