A Metro-Cammell 3 car unit 101345 (51539 presumably closest with 59691 + 51797) forming the 11:20 Glasgow Central to Largs calls at a rather disinterested Kilwinning. The driver appears to favour Tesco. 7th April 1984. Bruce Galloway.

Class 101 set 315 at Cowdenbeath station on 11/4/84, looking north. It has terminated on a working from Edinburgh. There was no Fife Circle in these days, Lochgelly and Cardenden stations only had trains at peak hours. Kenneth Leiper.

A 2-Car Met-Camm DMU set is seen in the vast 1890 built former Midland Railway terminus at Bradford Forster Square. The humble DMU attracting little custom for service 2L57 the 12.30 to Keighley. This big station with its long wide canopied platform was totally rebuilt in 1990 as part of the Aire Valley electrification scheme and in the process lost platform faces and track length in the process as the terminus was shifted north reducing the lines original length. The original Midland terminus mileage being 208m 58ch but now it's 208m 50ch. Adrian Nicholls.

Class 101 units on Dundee depot on the 15th April 1984. Nearest the camera is set 101363 consisting of Sc53144 + Sc59049 + Sc53746. Kevin Law.

The wonderful view DMUs offered (when the driver left the blinds up). An HST with 43104 closest is seen at Tollerton on 17/8/84. Taken from a Met-Camm unit, the box on the drivers desk with the two glass panels contained the two (left and right) heater controls, the cover protected the switches from the drivers bag. E53296 brings up the rear of a pair of Metro-Cammell 2-car units at Cottingham on a service from Hull to Bridlington on 23rd April 1984. Northgate signalbox, the semaphores and the wooden platform extensions have all, along with the venerable 101s, disappeared from this location. Syd Young.

Class 101 Kingsknowe May 1984. A Glasgow Central to Edinburgh train arrives from the west. This was Edinburgh's only proper style road level crossing - the one at South Leith has a strange arrangement of gates and the one at Duddingston & Craigmillar went in the 60s when the freight line to St Leonard's closed. Sadly the box and traditional level crossing gates at Kingsknowe had had gone by the early 80s. Alistair Ness.
