Rowley Regis in the mid-1960s presented a trim and tidy appearance. We still have those large canopies today but in this period picture they had proper buildings with waiting rooms and 'facilities', today we have a bus shelter under them, cunningly designed to collect the maximum wind. The station lad has just been cleaning the interior and windows on the far platform. The Birmingham platform has a chap in uniform with his bike. The shiny Derby class 116 is bound for Bewdley, it has green livery with small yellow warning panels, the rear destination blind says Birmingham (Snow Hill) ready for the return journey, just in front of the unit the signal is off for the descent of the line into Old Hill Tunnel, the cutting sides are perfectly trimmed. How neat the platforms look without 'Mind The Gap' stencilled every 10 feet! Image taken by Peter Shoesmith.
