Exciting though top and tailed loco haulage is on the Cumbrian Coast, this is how I remember it and, to be honest, prefer. Approaching Sellafield station on 15 August 1982 a class 108 (M56227 closest) picks its way along the undulating trackwork as the signaller watches the arrival. The train was the 17.55 Carlisle to Barrow service for which no passengers were waiting.
