Carlisle - Skipton

These three timetables - all from the summer 1986 season - mark the introduction of a new 'Dalesman' service between Carlisle and Skipton. It involved two services in each direction supported by local councils.

14 July 1986 — 10 May 1987

This was just a double sided piece of paper, measuring 3 15/16" x 8 1/4".

Starting Monday 14th July 1986

This measured 3 7/8" x 8 1/4" when folded.

August 1986

This seems to be a revised version of the above issued in August 1986. It measured 3 15/16" x 8 1/4" when folded.

Class 108 DMU at Settle

May 1970

A Carlisle - Skipton service departs from Settle in May 1970. The slide noted it as the last all stations southbound S&C train, and it was formed of a two-car (blue square) Derby Lightweight and a three-car Met-Camm (both power cars still in green). Stuart Mackay Collection.

This two coach class 108 DMU does its best to accommodate the crowds at Skipton, keen to sample the closure-threatened Settle and Carlisle line, August 1985. DMBS 53951 is closest. Ian Docwra.

Class 108 DMU at Carlisle

14th March 1987

Retro-green M54247 + M53964 are seen in Carlisle station on March 14th 1987. They failed working the 10:27 ex - Skipton, and were rescued by 47 630. Hamish Stevenson.
