This is W51517 leading Met Cam set B801 (W59547 & W51446) at Cardiff on 6/8/79. It would be attached to Class 118 BRCW set B468 W51310 + W59471 + W51325 and work the 09.55 to Weston-Super- Mare. Gerard Fletcher.
Met-Camm set B801 - presumably led by 51517 - heads out of Castle Cary with a Weymouth service on the 10th November 1979. Steve Davies Collection.
Class 101 set B801 (presumably 51517 + 59547 + 51446) is seen in Severn Beach station. Date unknown. John Law.

Class 101 51517 at Snailwell in August 1990. Built as a DMC, it had been downgraded to a DMS but retained it's first class seats as can be seen through the windows. Surface Stock.
51517 last carried set number NL458 and displays Manchester on its blind, this unit previously belonged to CF as part of C801, and is seen at Snailwell 31/8/90. Mac Winfield.
Captioned as the first 3-car set to reach Dundee West, SC51447 (and presumably 59545 and 51517) is seen there on the 30th May 1959. The set was newly delivered that month to 62A (Thornton Junction). It would later become a Class 102. George Bett.
Cardiff Central on my day trip of Monday 6th August 1979. On the right is Class 116 BR Derby Suburban set C333, W51148 + W59445 + W51135 which had arrived on the 09.17 Penarth - Cardiff and was about to leave as the 09.45 to Merthyr. On the left, still in all over blue is Class 118 BRCW set B468 W51310 + W59471 + W51325 which had come in on the 08.25 from Gloucester. It was attached to Met Cam Class 101 set B801 (W51446 + W 59547 + W51517) after this shot was taken and then worked the 09.55 to Weston-Super-Mare. Gerard Fletcher.
