These DMUs were fitted with the C8 engines:

  • E50000 part of a Derby twin set with hydraulic transmission
  • Class 112 Cravens power-twins with mechanical transmission
  • Class 113 Cravens power-twins with hydraulic transmission
  • Class 125 Derby triples with hydraulic transmission
  • Class 127 Derby quads with hydraulic transmission

The Cravens vehicles had one engine per power car, the others had two.

On Blue Pullman sets the current for lighting, air-conditioning, refrigeration, battery-charging and ancillary equipment was supplied by two underfloor mounted generating sets, each set comprising an 8-cylinder Rolls Royce C8N horizontal engine directly coupled to a Stones Tonum alternator.
