These services covered local stations on this part of the East Coast Main Line. Newcastle sets seen to be mainly used - Class 101s and 108s, and would often have 'Express' or 'Edinburgh Express' on the destination blind.
Services were affected by the collapse of the Penmanshiel Tunnel on 17 March 1979.
