Class 126 Waterside 'Ayrshire Wanderer' 9 Oct 1982. This tour was organised by the Swindon Preservation Society and used the same name as the previous year's BLS tour doing exactly what it said on the headboard. The class also remained in service for a bit longer than planned after the tour which had meant to see them being withdrawn from service the following day. Here we see the train at Benbane on the Waterside branch. The vehicles were 51036/59411/51017 + 51026/59404/51043. Alistair Ness.

Class 127 parcel vehicles M55984 + M55980, M55983 + M55973 and M55981 sit behind 03170 (the last ever Swindon works overhaul) and a brake van on Longsight TMD, 6-5-89. It was just over a week before the whole fleet of Class 127 DPUs were withdrawn, but these five were already out of use and used as a source of spare parts. Kevin Dowd.

Class 108 DMSL 51562 stabled in the bay at Shrewsbury alongside 140001 which had arrived on the 05:44 from Swansea. 26 July 1982. I had left Neath at 05.06 to catch the 05.44 to Shrewsbury in order to ride on the experimental unit. My verdict on the ride was that this experiment was a failure and nothing would come of it. With set number TS501 in the centre cab window a Class 116 DMU is seen in Newport station on 13 October 1984. Closest is M53057, the other two vehicles are presumably 59725 (a Class 115 TS) and 53097, and they are on the 11:31 service to Chepstow. Robert Thomas.
