Passing at Pollokshaws. By 1999 time was running out for first generation DMUs in Scotland, with a handful of Met Camm power twin sets operating from Corkerhill depot on some Glasgow suburban services. Taken on 1st August that year, when these had only a few months to go before being replaced by Sprinters. 101692 (53170 + 53253) was repainted into a unique blue livery in 1996 and is seen at Pollokshaws West on a Glasgow Central to Barrhead service on 1st August 1999. The BRCW class 118 DMU on the right had been a Devon / Cornwall unit from new, but was reallocated to Cardiff in 1986 where it gained the Red Dragon branding. It was moved to Bristol a month before this photo was taken, the set number changing to B480 when it was seen at Westbury on a Bristol to Weymouth service, the numbers were W51327 + W59470 + W51312. Taken in the winter of late 1987, we see a BRCW twin DMU stopping at Habrough on a service from Barton-upon-Humber to Cleethorpes. Sadly almost everything in this photo has now gone - station buildings, the GCR signalbox and gates, the DMU, and the footbridge I'm standing on to take the shot. Now left with two basic staggered platforms either side of an automated crossing. Murray Liston.
