Yellow Diamond DMUs in Lowestoft station. Undated, the blue livery on the two Met-Camms dates it to 1967 or later, the Derby Lightweight dates it no later than September 1968 when these were withdrawn from East Anglia. Stuart Mackay Collection.

A passenger approaches the Met-Camm DMU forming an Alston service in Haltwhistle station on 3 May 1975. Closest is E56375, which still has first class seats in the front saloon but no longer any sign of first class markings. Its partner at the time should be 50156. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Refurbished Class 101 DMU set TS408 arrives into Longbridge station with a terminating service. 101 DMU

DMU set 101306 departs from Dalmeny station on its journey from Edinburgh Waverley to Cowdenbeath one day in May 1984. Closest is likely to be 51228, this DMBS seemed to be the only consistant vehicle in the set for several years. A Class 122, still in Rail Blue livery, is the other power car with a Class 101 centre car between them. In the southbound platform is observation saloon ADM45028, it is attached to a catering vehicle. Stuart Mackay Collection.

A Class 108 DMU (54279 + 53628) forms the 16.37 Kettering - Corby passing Glendon Junction on 25 May 1990, during the last week of service of the experimental Kettering-Corby service. Corby station had been closed in May 1967, but was re-opened on an experimental basis in April 1987. This service was withdrawn as from 2 June 1990. The closure left Corby as, allegedly, the largest town in Europe without a rail service, and, in the ensuing years, there were various proposals for trains to serve Corby once again. But it would be nearly 19 years until East Midlands Trains re-introduced a regular service, including through trains to London, to the town. Lewis Bevan.
