It later saw service from Laira, Southall, Reading again and Old Oak Common before being re-allocated to Bletchley (BY) in December 1992 and transferred into departmental service as 977976. 977976 was used as part of the Severn Tunnel Emergency Train until its withdrawal in April 2008 and it moved into preservation.
