Class 120 power car 51790 from set C616 is seen here at Ayr, a long way from former home depot of Cardiff Canton, but unusually still retains the large central headlight installed for working the Central Wales Line. August 1986 Andrew McConnell.
Glasgow Central circa 10-1986. 318252 is brand new in service on the Ayrline, taking over from the old guard DMU. C616 was one of the Class 120 sets transferred from Cardiff Canton to Ayr to cover ScR DMU shortages in the mid 1980s. Andrew McConnell.
W51790 in Haymarket depot on the 8th February 1987. Originally an ScR vehicle, it had spent six years at Cardiff from 1980. It moved back north to Ayr depot in June 1986, then to HA that September, keeping its W prefix until withdrawn in March 1987. Hamish Stevenson.

A Class 120 in Aberdeen Ferryhill depot in April 1978, believed to be set 300 with DMS 51792 closest. The vehicle has a stretcher window (the first passenger window) and orange curtains only in the front saloon. The centre car has a red stripe and 'Buffet' lettering, and the other power car is a DMBF conversion. Mike Cooper.
Stabled in the BREL Glasgow Works yard Inverness based DMSL SC51792 has arrived for repairs / overhaul. The 'stretcher window' is clearly visible, the front passenger window behind the cab, which was hinged at the top to permit a person on a stretcher to be placed inside the coach straight from a platform. Also visible behind is Inverness allocated Class 120 TSLRB SC59683 which is still labled as a 'Buffet Car' complete with a red cantrail section denoting it's position. Bob Woolnough.

Inverness TMD based Class 120 DMSL SC51793 waits outside in BREL Glasgow Works Yard on the 3rd June 1978 for a call inside for overhaul. The opening 'stretcher' window behind the drivers cab is very clear in this image as is what appears to be a repair list written at the top of the secondmans window. Officially withdrawn in April 1986 whilst stored at Glasgow Shields Road EMD, she was scrapped at Vic Berry's Yard in Leicester the same month. Bob Woolnough.

One of the stylish well-appointed Swindon Class 120 Cross-Country 3-car DMUs with DMSL M51793 at the rear of a Manchester Victoria to Blackpool North service at Leyland on October 27th 1984, coupled to a Class 104. The batch of Class 120s were allocated to Newton Heath and saw these units on Manchester-Blackpool/Southport duties as a stop-gap until new Class 142s/150s came on stream in 1985/86. Martyn Hilbert.
