Old Instamatic slides taken probably in summer 1973 at Westbury. This was during the period when the Portsmouth-Bristol trains had been strengthened to six coaches, resulting in WR dmus being drafted in to supplement the Hampshire demus. Closest is Class 119 set B577, presumably 51091 + 59422 + 51063. We were on a Southern Rover and had come out from Salisbury on the dmu to catch the Summer Saturdays only Cardiff-Weymouth which at that time was the only train booked via Chandlers Ford and formed of a Class 47 and Mk 1s.
