SPTE liveried class 107 107444 rasps past the site of Wormit box with 2J46 1730 Dundee to Edinburgh stopping service, 9th May 1987. For a year or so, after the loco hauled service was withdrawn and before the introduction of class 150 Sprinters, the commuters on the Edinburgh to Dundee line were subjected to a variety of clapped out first gen multiple units. Strangely, you'd pay good money for that now... Bruce Galloway.

A Class 107 DMU departs from Kilwinning with a Largs - Glasgow Central service on 26 May 1979. Sc52032 was recorded as the rear vehicle, it carries set number 155. Stuart Mackay Collection.
The driver shields his eyes from the low winter sun as Hamilton based class 107 DMS Sc52032 leads 14:57 to Edinburgh out of Glasgow Central on24th January 1981. A class 303 working a Cathcart Circle service can be seen behind. Note the old Corkerhill allocation number 132 and later set number 150 on the 107 DMS. This seemed to be a spare vehicle that floated between sets and very soon after in would be in set 443 when the 4xx series was introduced. The Central to Edinburgh services could hardly be described as Inter-City with a pedestrian pace round the south. Sc52032 was withdrawn from Ayr depot around March 1984 having been a victim of the depot fire in the January. The by then closed store Paisleys, a once well known Glasgow tailors and outfitters can be seen behind. It closed in 1979 with the building demolished in 1993. A Jurys Inn Hotel now occupies the site. Bruce Galloway.
Driving Motor Brake 2nd (formerly Driving Motor Brake Composite) Sc52032 leads a three car Class 107 through Elderslie with the 10:00 service from Glasgow Central to Ayr on Wednesday 15th June 1983. This view is looking east from the footbridge which once gave access to the station. The station site is indicated by the way the running lines deviate either side of the no longer extant island platforms in the foreground. The lines leading straight on beyond Elderslie No 1 box head towards Paisley Gilmour Street and Glasgow Central whilst the lines coming in from the right are the remnants of the Paisley Canal line, closed a few months previously. The signal arm on the eastbound line giving access to the Paisley Canal line has already been removed and presumably the army of permanent way staff on the right is indulging in a further bout of rationalisation. Brian McDevitt.
Class 107 DMS Sc52032 was a victim of a fire at Ayr depot in the early hours of 2 January 1984. It is seen at the depot on February 15, 1984, now withdrawn and stripped of underframe components. Despite the condition, it moved to the Derby RTC for conversion to a lab unit which was later abandoned. Hamish Stevenson.
Class 107 set 429 carries its new set number in the cab window but its old number 133 remains painted on the cab front. Seen in the fading light at Kilmacolm station on 27/11/81. Chris Lings.
A Strathclyde liveried class 107 unit 107440 Sc52033 + Sc59806 + Sc52007 far from home approaches Tapton Junction, Chesterfield on the 13th September 1986 on an Ayr-Derby RTC working. It was sent to the RTC for investigation when technical problems were found with the power car axles of the class. Kevin Law.
107 440 (presumably 52033) is seen at Derby RTC on an unknown date, but probably during late 1986 for fitting strain gauges or similar on the axles in connection with the 107 wheelset crisis. David Faircloth.
107440 (52033 + 59806 + 52007) is working the 13:26 Dunblane - Edinburgh service when seen at Falkirk Grahamston on January 4, 1988. Hamish Stevenson.
Set 107 746 (presumably 52033) carries a headboard commemorating the opening of Airbles, Drumgelloch, Greanfaulds, Stepps and Milliken Park stations while working the official opening train on May 16 1989. Hamish Stevenson.

26th May 1962 sees Sc 52034 captured at Pollokshaws East as this Class 107 set works the last scheduled DMU service on the Cathcart Circle. It appears to be the same unit as Image 15503. 107449 (presumably 52034 + 59807 + 52010) calls at Curriehill with the 13.18 Edinburgh Waverley - Glasgow Central train on 11-07-1988. Then relatively new, this station was opened (or rather re-opened near the site of a former station) to encourage commuters from Currie and Balerno to take the train into Edinburgh. It is situated on the Caledonian Railway's route to Carstairs and Glasgow. This line is now electrified. The original Curriehill (called "Currie") opened on 15 February 1848, and was closed by British Railways on 31 March 1951. The present station (which occupies the site of the old station) opened on 5 October 1987. Gordon Thomson.
