Hessle Road, Hull in Oct 1962, when a Class 104 (59226 closest) ‘split’ a set of wrongly clamped points. The photographer said: “Within hours the mess was cleaned up and normal working soon resumed, today it would be a ‘scene of crime’ and the job stopped for a week”! Received via Ian Fleming. A four-car BRC&W DMU in Bradford Exchange station. The centre cars are in rail blue, so this will be in the late 1960s. The number of the power car is given as E50545, which was allocated to Neville Hill from 1960 until withdrawal in 1981. Graham Clark.

A BRC&W triple set forms the 1.34pm Cheadle to Stoke train seen at Cheadle (Staffs) on 18 May 1963. Passenger services were withdrawn from the station the following month, plans are underway to re-open it. The DMCL has Cresswell on the destination blind, this was where the four mile branch joined the Crewe - Derby main line. Stuart Mackay Collection.
