Calling at Adderley Park circa 1963 is a 7 car dmu set, leading is a Park Royal coupled to a Gloucester RCW twin and finally a Metro-Cammell triple. Adderley Park station was opened in 1860, it's layout is a booking office at street level on Bordesley Green Road and buildings at platform level. The platform on the Birmingham bound side is backed by the approach to Adderley Park goods yard, a once busy and thriving yard handling considerable freight from this area of heavy industry. Factories included Morris Commercial and Arthur Holdens Paint, the finely detailed frontage of which still survives. The goods yard was home to many coal merchants whose carts could be seen clattering up the granite sett paved road from the the yard to Bordesley Green Road. The tiled building in front of the camera is a simple waiting room and is still extant although the tall chimney has been removed, the lighting is now electric and much more comprehensive. This is Aldridge Station on 13/05/1963, into which a Park Royal DMU is about to call. Aldridge was the first station east of Walsall on the Sutton Park line to Castle Bromwich, it closed to passengers in January 1965, the line is still open as a freight route and there are persistant rumours that a passenger service may one day return. It will be too late for Aldridge as no trace of it now remains. The rather dramatic shot was taken by Peter Shoesmith. Geoff Dowling and John Whitehouse Collection.

Birkenhead (Woodside) was near Woodside Pier on the Mersey. The station was a mini Paddington with lovely curved overall roof, it was closed on 5th November 1967, this photograph was taken 30th August 1967. This picture, which has been published but in brutally cropped form, features a Park Royal 103/145 dmu discharging a healthy number of passengers, and a Met-Camm on the left.
