A nicely turned out two-car BRCW Class 110 DMU displaying a Clayton West destination blind stands at Huddersfield station in May 1982. Nearest the camera is Driving Motor Brake Composite no. E52067. Andrew Walker.
On 3 August 1982 I travelled to Huddersfield with the aim of making a journey over the Clayton West branch. On arrival at Huddersfield this 2-car Class 101 unit (51504/51434) was stabled in the centre road, and this formed my train to Clayton West, the 12.10 from Huddersfield. The Clayton West branch closed just 4 months after my visit, on 24 January 1983. Lewis Bevan.

Huddersfield Kirklees West Yorkshire 30th December 1982. After a trip up the Clayton West branch I returned to Huddersfield and caught a late afternoon trans-Pennine train to Leeds headed by a Peak. Looking back as we departed I took this shot of Huddersfield’s impressive 1880s trainshed. A first generation (Class 101?) diesel multiple unit is in platform 3 probably on a stopping service to Leeds and a Class 08 shunter stands in the now lifted up yard. Taken from the rear of a Met-Camm DMU returning from the West Clayton branch on the ex-LYR Penistone line this is the view of Longroyd Viaduct over the Colne valley. We will very soon negotiate Springwood Junction where the ex-LNWR Standedge route merges before entering the tunnels into Huddersfield station. Pete LG99.
