This Metro-Cammell two-car DMU was photographed at Huddersfield station in October 1981. The vehicle nearest the camera is no. E51504, a motor composite built in 1959. I thought I would check the specification of this unit by looking in my 1973 Ian Allan Combined Volume (cover price 90p) - and was somewhat staggered to find that this exact vehicle is pictured in the DMU section of the book, on page 79 - at Huddersfield station! Taken by a D Griffiths. In his photo the unit has a working headcode blind, but otherwise looks exactly as seen here. Andrew Walker.
