The roofless former steam shed at Worcester Shrub Hill is in the background of this view with B436 (51334 + 59500 + 51376) and another similar set) about to arrive at the station where it will reverse and head off towards Foregate Street and Hereford on 15 December 1984. I have never seen the signal arm on the short signal post in anything but the lowered position but never saw a train on its associated line. Adrian Putley has kindly let me know that it's to protect the occasional shunting moves that take place on the goods lines - there's a crossover between them a little further along. The signal is worked from a ground frame near those lines, and left clear unless a train comes in and needs its protection.
