This scene was taken on a fine summer day at Whitchurch around 1960. The platforms have a fine display of direction signs including the all important Postal Telegraph Office. Staff have the traditional uniforms of heavy dark blue serge with brass buttoned waistcoat and shiny peaked cap. On the right a teetering pile of pigeon baskets wait to be returned (I trust they are empty), a young man leans nonchalantly against the building perhaps he owns one of the bicycles, a drop handlebar sports job rather than the sit-up-and-beg Raleigh by the pigeon baskets. Standing at the platform is a BRCW class 104 DMU and on the right is 4300 class 6335, a long time Oxley resident. Image taken by Peter Shoesmith.
