Class 116 DMU at Droitwich Spa

×

Details

An exceptionally dull and misty morning at Droitwich Spa on 16 April 1987 with an unidentified class 116 unit about to stop at the station with a Birmingham New Street to Hereford train. Underwoods coal yard was still active with trains of household coal, usually 2 or 3 HTAs, being received as required from Washwood Heath with one of the class 37 Lickey bankers providing the power with the 0-4-0 Ruston shunter moving them on-site. The slightly bizarre effigies of coal miners made the advertising board a lot more noticeable for passing passengers.
