With a cloud of smoke and a rasp from the exhaust an unknown class 116 pollutes it's way to Four Oaks on 29 March 1986. Birmingham New Street had not an architectural gem since the destruction in the 1960's but it was alive; diesel and electric locomotives were exchanged, through workings came and went and the humble local services wormed their way in between. "You don't know what you got 'till it's gone".
