A two-car Derby built Class 108 formed of cars M54261 & M53978 (N608) was stood at Croston with a Preston to Ormskirk service on May 8th 1989. The unit was one of several that had an extended life due to the then ongoing issues with the Class 142 fleet. The set was finally withdrawn in October 1991 whilst operating from Longsight Depot. Both cars being subsequently scrapped by Booth's of Rotherham.
