A 3 car Class 101 DMU departs Norwich Thorpe on an ECS working to the depot on Monday 5th September 1983. Driving Motor Composite E53181 leads Trailer Brake 2nd E59095 and another Driving Motor Composite E53168. The Trailer Brake 2nd, E59095, is one of only 28 such vehicles constructed out of a total of 760 Metropolitan Cammell DMU vehicles and began life in late 1957 as part of a 4 car set based on Tyneside. The day after I had scanned this view, I acquired a DVD entitled “Old Dunfermline From the Air”. Imagine my surprise when one of the scenes depicted a 3 car Metro Cammell DMU at my childhood local station, Dunfermline Lower, including one of those Trailer Brake 2nds.
