Ardrossan Town station on 23rd March 1986 just before electrification, with Swindon Class 120 "Cross Country" 3-car unit, with 53677 visible and Class 107 Derby "Heavyweight" 3-car units in Strathclyde livery, with set 107427 (52020 + 59793 + 51987) at the front. The ruin of Ardrossan castle's 15th century keep stands prominent on the hill. Gordon Edgar.
With a handpainted set number (349) and Bangor just showing on the blinds, this 120 departs on the back of the set from Johnstone. The centre car is a Strathclyde liveried 107, and the leading car is a blue / grey 101. Also of note is one of the large side lights is missing about half way along the 120 car. The vehicle numbers should be 53664 + 59793 + 51176. Andrew McConnell.
51176, 59793 & 53664(349) leave Edinburgh Waverley with 1424 service to Glasgow Central on the 9th August 1986. Graham Johnston.
53664 at the rear of the 14:24 to Glasgow Central (with 51176 and 59793) leaving Edinburgh Waverley on 9th August 1986. Graham Johnston.
Set C200 comprised an almost studiously mismatched combination of Class 101 DMBS 51176 in Blue / Grey, a Class 107 centre car in Strathclyde Orange (presumably 59793) and a Class 105 in plain BR Blue. Taken at Glasgow Central in late 1986, when the Class 107 power cars were out of use with axle problems and the ScR collected a variety of vehicles from around the country as substitutes. Andrew McConnell.
The 11:15 Glasgow Central - Largs service arrives into Kilwinning station on the 19th November 1986, 51176 leading. The taped-on set number reads 349. It's a hybrid set, with 107 centre car 59793. Hamish Stevenson.
A Class 120-107-105 combination departs Kilmarnock with the 11.45 to Glasgow Central on 06-12-1986. The best (or worst) example of a 'Frankenstein' dmu set - blue/grey 53647, orange / black 59793, plain blue 51269 - listed as set 105552. Gordon Thomson.
A Hybrid 105/107/120 set heads away from Kilmarnock with the 11:45 to Glasgow Central on December 6th, 1986. Formed of 51269 + 59793 + 53647, they were listed as set 105552. Gordon Thomson.
A tri-coloured unit, with a Cravens car at the buffers. Note the scrawled (or taped on?) unit number. Glasgow Central, circa late 1986 or early 1987. The vehicles are presumably 51269 (class 105) + 59793 (class 107) + 53647 (class 120). Ian Docwra.
In the bright and attractive orange / black Strathclyde P.T.E. livery, 107427 (presumably 52020 + 59793 + 51987) awaits departure time at Kilmarnock with the 10.45 to Glasgow on 20-06-1987. Gordon Thomson.
