The vehicle is mentioned in the following images:

DMU

Date: unknown

E51557 is on the front of a four-car refurbished Class 111 set (presumably with 59054 + 59070 + 50270) seen at York, date unknown. Stuart Mackay Collection.

DMU

Date: 16th July 1981

Left: E50293 + E59070 + E50139, right: E50210 + E56410; at Thornaby on July 16, 1981. Thornaby was refuelling and stabling DMUs at this time and the nearest set is doing the shunt moves necessary to get on the depot. Thornaby station buildings were demolished soon after, becoming a windswept platform with only a bus shelter for passenger accommodation. Although now much improved with a ticket office and waiting room it is a shame the original buildings hadn't been renovated. John Carter.

DMU

Date: 3rd August 1981

Whitby station, photographed on 3 August 1981. The Class 101 MetroCamm set (50139/59070/50293) has just arrived as the 11.58 from Middlesbrough. On the left is a Class 104 set, the DMS seems to be 50576. Lewis Bevan.

DMU

Date: 12th August 1981

The 10:00 Whitby-Middlesbrough is seen departing Castleton Moor on 12 August 1981. The three-car Met-Camm DMU has E50293 closest, the other two cars are presumably E59070 and (still in all-blue) E50139. Robert Thomas.

DMU

Date: 8th October 1981

A Class 101/104 hybrid at Middlesbrough on 08/10/1981. Nearest the camera are Class 101 DMBS E50293, TS(L) E59070, whilst the furthest car is Class 104 DMS(L) E50570. This formation was allocated to Darlington (DN) depot at the time. Graeme Phillips Collection.
