Collision involving Class 126 / steam

The 11.0pm Glasgow - Ayr service (a Swindon Inter-City set formed 51022 + 59392 + 51032) was involved in a sidelong collision with Clan 72001 'Clan Cameron' when departing from St Enoch. 51022 would be derailed and came to rest at a 45 degree angle.

17th March 1961

The 11.0pm Glasgow - Ayr service (formed 51022 + 59392 + 51032) was involved in a sidelong collision with Clan 72001 'Clan Cameron' when departing from St Enoch. DMS 51022 is seen after the incident, it would be returned to traffic after repair. Unknown Newspaper.

Seen in Kyle Street carriage sidings at Ayr station on 28th June 1978 is a Swindon-built "Inter-city" Class 126 DMU, with driving car SC51022. Bob Belcher.

A Class 126 DMSL at Glasgow Works (St Rollox) on 2 September 1979. It seems to be SC51022 and has much of the underframe equipment removed. Brian Daniels.

Class 126 DMU at possibly Falkland Yard, Ayr

circa Autumn 1982

Withdrawn Class 126 DMSL SC51022 is boarded up and well stripped of parts. Withdrawn from Ayr depot in March 1982 where it spent its whole career it was scrapped at Snailwell in November of that year. This was possibly taken at Falkland Yard, Ayr, before the move south. Stuart Mackay Collection.
