Paxman experimental railcar

British Railways ran an experiment with a 2-car "Inter-City" diesel-electric unit to test 450hp Davey-Paxman engines.

It was constructed at Derby C&W Works using the bodies from two LMS coaches and bogies from Euston-Watford electric stock.

It was withdrawn after seventeen months of trials (without ever carrying passengers) on the LMR, NER and ER covering 43,000 miles.
