Class 118s weren't seen around Stratford-upon-Avon all that often so it was worth walking back to Henley-in-Arden for another shot when T317 (51314 + 59481 + 51329) returned about 40 minutes later on 2 May 1988. The signalbox was usually switched out Saturdays at this time which left a very long section between Shirley and Bearley Junction but this didn't matter much with a basic hourly service in each direction. Class 118 T317 (51329 + 59481 + 51314) was working from Birmingham Moor Street to Stratford-upon-Avon on 2 May 1988 when photographed passing Henley-in-Arden's outer home signal. I took the shot quite early because the light was dreadful and the exposure on 125asa FP4 was 1/125 at f2 on an Olympus OM1n. There is a footpath along the boundary fence here which in 1988 gave clear views from various spots but it's very different in 2026 with the line largely hidden by tree growth. Peter Tandy.
