Six Lochs Land Cruise

1965 Season

1965 was to be the last year with the line between Dunblane and Crainlarich scheduled to close from 1 November, the Oban passenger services being re-routed onto the West Highland section between Glasgow and Crainlarich. The closure would be brought forward a few weeks due to a rock fall in Glen Ogle.

The Six Lochs tour also appeared in the Glasgow "Bargain Travel Facilities" brochure.

June 1965 Glasgow Bargain Travel

This year they again departed from Glasgow Queen Street rather than Buchanan Street.

The table shows only the known tours. I haven't been able to get hold of the other pages of the "Advance Information" booklet, so all the additional non-Glagow tours are not listed:

Photographs

The flickr pages of "Ernies Railway Archive" contain four images by JM Boyes of a tour from Grangemouth using a three-car 107 and two-car 101. Two, at Strathyre, Glenoglehead, noted as May 3rd (a Monday) and two at Crainlarich (one, two) dated as May 30th (a Sunday). I suspect all were from the first date as the normal pattern of tours from Grangemouth in previous years was on the Monday May Day holiday then not again till July.
