Near Paisley - 26/9/85

The 12:30 Girvan - Glasgow Central 3-car set passed the Elderslie starting signal at danger and hit an iron-ore train standing at the next signal. The driver saw the stationery train about 200m away while travelling at approximately 45-50mph, an emergency brake application brought the set down to approx 20mph on impact. 39 passengers, the guard and driver were treated in hospital.
