A Swindon-built 79xxx Inter-City DMU at Swindon station on 27 July 1956. In the cab, left to right, are KWC Grand - the Western Region Manager, Harold Watkinson - the Minister of Transport, and the driver. They were part of a much larger group of officials that visited Swindon Works to view the construction of the new trains followed by on a demonstration run to London. Departure was at 3.55pm with arrival at Paddington scheduled for 5.15pm. British Railways.
