Leading power car SC51043 is on the rear of a Swindon Inter-City Class 126 DMU seen departing from Glasgow Central station, probably in 1982. The buckeye couplings were normally left in the upright position due to the frequent joining of and splitting of sets for different services. Ian MacDonald.

51026

End of Days. Platform 13 and a six car Swindon Inter-City awaits departure from Glasgow Central. If the station clock is correct, this could be a late running 13:35 hrs to Ayr and Girvan. The slightly cross-eyed domino dots and dirt stains on the DMSL suggests this is Sc51026, probably making it Set 126 413. The rear Set is 126 412. Probably Spring 1982. alicia hartman.

Class 126 Waterside 'Ayrshire Wanderer' 9 Oct 1982. This tour was organised by the Swindon Preservation Society and used the same name as the previous year's BLS tour doing exactly what it said on the headboard. The class also remained in service for a bit longer than planned after the tour which had meant to see them being withdrawn from service the following day. Here we see a glimpse of Sc51043 at Benbain on the Waterside branch. Alistair Ness.

December 1982

51043

It's Not Unusual. Perhaps, but it's a late Saturday afternoon and Swindon 126 413 has deposited a handful of passengers at Largs after arriving on a service from Glasgow Central. DMBSL Sc51043 is nearest the camera with DMSL Sc51017 recorded at the rear. TSL is presumably Sc59404. This is probably the reformed Set 413 (with DMSL swapped from the other remaining operational Set 406) prior to preservation. December 1982. alicia hartman.

End of Days. Late Saturday afternoon and Swindon Inter-City 126 413, with DMSL Sc51017 nearest, idles at Largs on Platform 2. It will work back to Glasgow Central once the crew return and the tail lamp is removed. The high contrast is due due to the low winter sun ... and under exposure! December 1982. alicia hartman.

That branch closed a few days a later and the Class 126s were withdrawn by the end of the month. Brian Daniels.
