Class 126 DMU vehicles 51043 + 59404 + 51017 at Laurencekirk in May 1983 awaiting road movement to preservation on the Brechin Railway. They had been moved by rail from Dunfermline Townhill where they had been stored since withdrawal during the tendering process. Ian MacDonald.

"Intercity 125" meets Intercity Class 126 DMU early on a spring morning in 1983 at Laurencekirk. The DMU had been hauled up from Thornton Yard in Fife attached to a Class 40 hauled freight. It would shortly leave BR metals, being craned onto flatbed trailers later in the day for the move to the Brechin railway. Andrew McConnell.

Stripped of it's engines and with all windows boarded up due to asbestos contamination Class 126 DMBS SC51042 lies dumped in Falkland Yard, Ayr on the 21st May 1983. Withdrawn in August 1982 having spent all it's working life at Ayr MPD there was just one more journey to make...to the firing tunnel at Snailwell Yard, Suffolk where she perished during November 1983.
