Class 126 Hunterston 9 Oct 1982. The class also remained in service for a bit longer after the tour which had been to see them being withdrawn from service the following day. Here we see the train, led by Sc51026, arriving at Paisley where I was living at the time to stop and pick up. However, it wasn't booked to stop there on the return which was routed via the Canal line. As I was working for BR I arranged with the guard and tour organiser for a special stop to set down at Canal station. So far so good until I realised after the train had departed that the station was locked with me on the platform and the only way out was through the coal yard and over the gate. Scrapper. Swindon Class 126 Trailer Sc59402 languishes at Falkland Yard (Down Side) adjacent to the beach. This is the corridor side, the compartments and lavatories were on the other side. Originally a Composite it was declassified to all Second and is shown as a TSL on the vehicle end, above the 'White Circle'. Withdrawn Swindon vehicles were stored here or at the former Co-op Coal Sidings to the south of Ayr station prior to component recovery, boarding up and onward rail transfer for scrap.
